NEWS & EVENTS
This year, the energy is contagious as more and more people pitch in to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. The response on signs, door knocking, and other efforts has shown that folks in Red Hook and our region are taking this election very seriously.
Remember: while NY may not be a battleground state in the presidential race, we have a lot of work to do to help deliver a Congress that can work for us in the Hudson Valley. The Dutchess County Comptroller race, and the State Senate and Assembly races, are critical to creating a future with a government that works for us. We are within the margin of effort (Ben Wikler), so don’t obsess over polls — get out there and make a difference in our local races.
There are events and opportunities to volunteer coming up, so please scroll to get the info and join. Meanwhile, some dates and details to keep in mind:
October 26 is the last day to register to vote if you know someone who needs to do so: https://elections.ny.gov/register-vote
October 21 is the last day to update your address with Board of Elections
Folks can check their registration here: https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/
Early voting will start October 26 and run to November 3 and we will do more promotion soon. Our closest location this year will be the Pavilion at Brookmeade, so plan accordingly (this is a change from Rhinebeck Town Hall).
Signs
We have distributed most of the signs we received from campaigns, but we do still have Choice is on the Ballot signs from the Pat Ryan campaign, so if you have a spot for one of those, please email rhdems2022@gmail.com and we will make sure we place one.
Support for Election Workers
We need volunteers to help bring poll workers food and coffee. It’s a long day, 5am (to set up) then a busy day and evening helping everyone get their vote in, and then a process of putting everything away and relaying results until 10pm. We can help by providing meals and caffeine to these hard working folks! Donations to RH Dems will go to providing this support. And if you can sign up to help bring food to our four polling sites, please email rhdems2022@gmail.com. Thank you!
Spotlight: Dan Aymar-Blair for Dutchess County Comptroller
Check out this Daily Catch article about Dan’s race. Our choice is pretty clear! One candidate represents political patronage, the other will bring the financial oversight we need and deserve!
Every donation helps. You can still support Dan’s campaign by clicking here. He’s also a great social media follow!
Be informed about Prop 1, or the Equal Rights Amendment. Visit https://www.nyequalrights.org/ for more info.
Prop 1 does not harm girls’ sports (as some signs around here state). Read more at https://www.whatisnyprop1.org/ where they clearly address this question.
One team, one fight! Turn out in Red Hook and surrounding towns will be critical for many of these races. Sign up to help here.
